Parks and Recreation
Oakboro’s Parks and Recreation Department is dedicated to providing safe, enjoyable, and inclusive recreational opportunities for residents of all ages. From youth sports and seasonal events to beautiful parks and walking trails, our goal is to enhance the quality of life and foster community engagement throughout the Town of Oakboro.

The Parks and Recreation Director creates and implements recreational programming and activities for town residents and oversees scheduling and reservations for all park facilities.
Town Sports
The Town of Oakboro offers basketball, spring soccer and fall soccer. Â

Registrations can be dropped off or placed in the drop box at Oakboro Town Hall (109 N. Main Street) or mailed to P.O. Box 610, Oakboro, NC 28129.

Baseball & Softball
The Oakboro Youth Club organizes local baseball and softball programs. Information can be found at www.oakboroyouthclub.org.
Memorial Park
Park Information: Features sidewalk seating, a water fountain, and serves as the site for seasonal ceremonies such as the Christmas Tree Lighting and National Day of Prayer.
Oakboro District Park
Location: 423 S. Main Street
Oakboro District Park covers approximately 40 acres and includes a disc golf course, five shelters, three mini shelters, workout stations, horseshoe pits, a stocked pond (no fishing yet), and about a mile of walking trails. The park also features restrooms, a state-of-the-art amphitheater, two lighted baseball/softball fields, a football/soccer field, a 1,000-foot nature trail, and a walking trail bridge.

The picnic shelters and amphitheater can be reserved for a fee by calling Town Hall at 704-485-3351.

Blueway Park Access Point-Oakboro Blueway Park I
Location:Â Rocky River at NC Highway 205 (7801 NC Hwy 205, Marshville, NC 28013; Entry is at Pleasant Hill Church Road)
Open Dawn to Dusk with a timed rolling gate
Oakboro Blueway Park I (also known as RROPP Nature Park I) – approximately 15 miles in size and protects approximately a quarter mile of Rocky River frontage with public access.
Amenities:Â Shelter with Picnic Tables, Portable Restrooms
Park I can be found four-miles from the Oakboro five-point intersection as you drive from Oakboro toward New Salem. It is located at the bridge at Rocky River. The kayak/canoe route from the Park I landing to Park II is an 8-mile trip and takes about 4-hours. It is mild to moderately difficult.
A Carolina Thread Trail Rocky River Blueway kayak/canoe launch/landing is at the park.
Blueway Park Access Point-Oakboro Blueway Park II
Location:Â Long Creek at NC Highway 138 (10739 NC Highway 138, Oakboro, NCÂ 28129)

Oakboro Blueway Park II (also known as RROPP Nature Park II) – approximately 7 miles in size and protects approximately 650 feet of Rocky River Backwater with public access.
Park II can be found four-miles from the Oakboro five-point intersection as you drive from Oakboro toward Aquadale. It is located at the bridge at Long Creek (backwater from Rocky River). When boating, be sure to turn left off Rocky River onto Long Creek. There is a large sign on the left side of the river. If you miss the left turn, it is 9 isolated miles downriver to the next launch/landing.

Long Street Park & Community Building
Location: 626 N. Long Street
Park Information:
Long Street Park houses a community building that now serves as the Oakboro Nutrition Site. The park includes a small playground, a concession stand with bathrooms and storage, a ball field, picnic area, and basketball court.
The building may be rented on weekends throughout the year. The fee to rent the building is $200. At least half must be paid as a non-refundable deposit to secure the reservation.
