Mayor's Message

Oakboro is fortunate to have many activities and attractions for both residents and visitors. Spend a day at Oakboro District Park, featuring a one-mile walking trail, playground equipment, picnic shelters, a disc golf course, ballfields, and more. Stroll through our charming downtown during the monthly Cruise-In and enjoy classic cars lining Main Street, or explore history at the Oakboro Regional Museum of History and our Railroad Museum and replica train depot.

Situated in western Stanly County, Oakboro is conveniently close to Charlotte, Monroe, and Concord, making it an ideal place to live. Nearby recreational opportunities abound—from a day at Lake Tillery or Badin Lake, hiking in the 53,000-acre Uwharrie Mountains, to panning for gold at Reed Gold Mine.

Our children attend award-winning schools, including Oakboro Elementary, West Stanly Middle School, and West Stanly High School, while higher education is accessible at Stanly Community College, Pfeiffer University, Wingate University, and UNC Charlotte.

Oakboro is a business-friendly town that retains its small-town warmth and charm. We provide essential services, including water and sewer, garbage and recycling collection, and more. Whether you’re seeking a place to live, start a business, or simply spend the day, Oakboro offers something for everyone.
